3 Day 3 Night Cow Camp Chuckwagon Cooking School

We are excited to announce our Spring 2025 Cooking School to be hosted by

R.A. Brown Ranch, Throckmorton, Texas!

 

We have teamed up with R.A. Brown Ranch to offer our Spring Chuckwagon Cooking School, March 27-30, 2025.  This rare opportunity will be open to 8 Students ONLY to come learn all aspects of Chuckwagon cooking on a prestigious working ranch.

R.A. Brown Ranch, established in 1895, www.rabrownranch.com,  is a renowned family-owned operation specializing in high-quality Quarter Horses and both registered and commercial cattle. The ranch has earned prestigious awards, including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association's Cattle Business of the Century Award and the AQHA/Bayer Best Remuda Award, and is recognized among the top seedstock providers in the U.S. Its breeding program focuses on Angus, Red Angus, and SimAngus cattle, with over 800 head sold annually. The ranch also manages a diverse herd of Quarter Horses and maintains local wildlife. With roots tracing back to the Brown, Thomas, and Donnell families, R.A. Brown Ranch has a rich history of generational stewardship, with leadership passed down to the current generation, ensuring its continued success through a successful family transfer in 2013. The 3-day Chuckwagon Cooking School offers a fully immersive Western culinary experience. Participants will learn and cook traditional cowboy meals using Dutch ovens, over open fires. Alongside experienced chuckwagon cooks, you’ll learn techniques for cooking bread, pies, casseroles, and steak, while gaining insights into managing firewood types and temperature control. Accommodations include teepees, known as “cowboy condominiums,” with basic amenities such as porta potties and camp showers.

 

The program combines hands-on cooking lessons with ranch life, including feeding ranch workers, enjoying campfire music, and taking wagon tours. Tuition is $1,500 per person, or $2,500 per couple, with deposits required to secure spots.
